Malaysian social entrepreneur, Kelvin Tan has been named Obama Leader, marking a big milestone not just for him but also the SE community in Malaysia.
In the recent Budget 2023 tabling, Putrajaya has also allocated RM2 billion in financing to support sustainable technology startups and to help SMEs adopt low carbon practices, as well as RM1 billion to help SMEs automate business process and digitalise their operations.

Malaysian Social Entrepreneur, Kelvin Tan Named Obama Leader Among 105 Emerging Leaders
The Obama Foundation Leaders programme has announced Kelvin Tan, co-founder and CEO of Project ID among 105 emerging leaders selected to join the programme’s 2023 cohort this year.
Kelvin, from Malaysia, will be one of just 35 Leaders participating in the Asia-Pacific programme. This year’s Asia-Pacific cohort represents 22 nations and territories across the region.

24 Founders Selected For First 2 Cohorts Of 100Soonicorns Programme
ScaleUp Accelerator Sdn Bhd (ScaleUp Malaysia) and Proficeo Consultants Sdn Bhd (Proficeo) in partnership with Penjana Kapital Sdn Bhd (Penjana Kapital) and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), have announced the selection of the first 2 cohorts of 24 Founders for the 100Soonicorns programme designed to groom the next Unicorns of Malaysia.
Coined from the phrase “soon-to-be unicorns”, Soonicorns are startups with the growth potential to become Unicorns.

TheNoor Seals Footprint In Indonesia Through Partnerships Formed With 5 NGOs
TheNoor (Noor Luminous Sdn Bhd) has joined forces with five (5) prominent Indonesian non-governmental organisations (NGOs), Yayasan Dompet Dhuafa Republika, Yayasan Inisiatif Zakat Indonesia, Yayasan Panti Yatim Indonesia Al-Fajr, Yayasan Asar Humanity and Yayasan Rumah Zakat Indonesia.
The partnership aims to facilitate the digital charitable payments of Zakat, Wakaf, Infaq and Shadaqah through TheNoor mobile application. As part of the agreement, the new partners hope to encourage more Indonesians to perform their ascribed charitable duties through a more holistic and integrated approach.

MDEC And Endeavor Malaysia To Support 10-High Growth Tech Companies Through FOX Programme
Endeavor Malaysia has expressed their support for Malaysia Digital Economy Corporationss (MDEC) Founders Centre of Excellence (FOX) programme, a new initiative guided by the goals set in MyDigital Blueprint, designed to support the growth and development of high-potential tech companies in Malaysia.
A key component of the recently launched FOX programme comprises a Global Mentoring Program (GMP) which is a 6-month initiative conducted by Endeavor Malaysia that aims to have more home-grown tech companies to become national unicorns by 2025.

First Lady of Germany, Elke Büdenbender and 25 Startups Call For Promotion of Diversity and Inclusivity In Malaysia’s Tech Ecosystem
ASEAN startup community builder, 25 Startups welcomed the First Lady of Germany, Elke Büdenbender, to promote diversity and inclusivity in the tech industry.
Her visit to the incubator in Penang included discussions with several Malaysian women founders on the importance of empowering women in the tech industry.
