Welcome back to an all new Head’s Up. There has been several exciting developments within the ecosystem. Last week, we saw the joint partnership between Sunway iLabs and Carsome to launch Malaysia’s first automotive accelerator programme.

Sunway iLabs Partners Carsome To Launch Carsome Mobility Lab For Startups In Auto Ecosystem
Sunway Innovation Labs (iLabs), the innovation arm of Sunway Group announced a joint partnership with Carsome, Southeast Asia’s largest integrated car e-commerce platform to launch an accelerator programme – Carsome Mobility Lab.
Launching in the third quarter of 2022, Carsome Mobility Lab will be the first auto ecosystem focused accelerator in Malaysia looking to support global tech startups to deliver sustainable solutions in Carsome’s existing markets.

Setting The Pace On ESG
Malaysia is operating in an increasingly competitive global marketplace, through the rapid adoption of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices by other countries. Nearly 80% of the largest 50 economies in the world have, or are developing, disclosure requirements on ESG.
Over the last couple of years, in particular, there has been much greater scrutiny of ESG issues, primarily in response to the pandemic and the related social and economic impact. There is clear evidence that strong ESG practices are becoming increasingly essential to give businesses the competitive edge needed in the marketplace to survive.

Instahome Partners Tune Protect To Launch Malaysia’s First Ever Landlord Insurance Offering
Catcha Group-backed real estate technology company, Instahome Sdn Bhd (Instahome) has announced its partnership with Tune Protect Malaysia (Tune Protect) to offer complimentary landlord insurance for worry-free rental.
The newly launched landlord insurance is the first ever in Malaysia where the landlord is able to collect security deposits at the beginning of the tenancy agreement and also secure free insurance coverage.

MDEC’s MoU With MTDC To Open Up More Funding Facilitations And Opportunities For Tech Companies
Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the alliance and collaboration between the two government agencies with the aim to further catalyse the growth of Malaysian tech companies.
Mahadhir Aziz, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MDEC, said that leveraging on each organisations’ platforms and expertise in support of meeting their objectives will be the key thrust of the collaboration.
