Emerging Startups In Malaysia Recognised As Future Industry Movers By KPMG And HSBC
Welcome back to an all-new Head’s Up. This week, KPMG and HSBC released their Emerging Giants in Asia Pacific report, which examined new economy businesses across the region with strong potential to impact the global business landscape over the next decade.
The report which looked at several markets identified lists of emerging giants and industry shakers. In Malaysia, they recognised emerging startups such as Lapasar and PolicyStreet among other players such as Boost Holdings, Mindvalley and Exabytes.
The report further highlighted on Malaysia’s multi-pronged strategy that combines upgrading the digital skills of its population, encourages foreign and big local companies to invest in startups, and offers a host of programmes to support the growth of new technology firms and startup ecosystem.
However, despite the rise of startups, the ecosystem is struggling to find the right talent to scale up.
“The question therefore is not so much whether Malaysia will produce successful new economy companies but how many will emerge. Given the strong level of government support and the increasing amount of resources being funneled their way. Malaysia’s startups are poised to continue to play a major role in the country’s development in the coming years,” the report stated.

CARSOME Expands Malaysia-based Regional Headquarters
Integrated car e-commerce platform, CARSOME, today announced the expansion of its regional headquarters in Malaysia. The expansion signifies the company’s efforts in growing a high-skilled workforce to solve customers’ pain points in the car ownership journey.
The expanded headquarters occupies a total of 41,860 square feet of space, spread across four stories at KYM Tower in Mutiara Damansara to house over 560 employees.
